Laura Catherine Brown Lyons, 75, of Millboro, Virginia died Tuesday, December 02, 2014 at her home.
She was born May 31, 1939 in Marion County, SC, the daughter of the late Neal Brown Sr. and Zilpha Johnson Brown.
Laura was the owner of Green Valley Farm Hunter’s Paradise, former owner of Arrows & Antlers Restaurant, and an employee at E.E. Lyons.
She was a member of Woodland Union Church, Business & Professional Women, a life member of the National Turkey Federation, the NRA, and the Ruffled Grouse Society. She loved to bowl with the USBC, was Team Mom for baseball and football, she was the only woman in Virginia to be a Special Game Warden, and was active in the Relay For Life as a cancer survivor.
Laura is survived by her 6 children: James Lyons, Lance Lyons, Dorothy Phillips, Frances Aylor, Kimberly Lyons, Daniel Lyons; 9 grandchildren: Cathy Repass, Luke Lyons, Grace Lyons, Victoria Wilkens, Carl Foreaker, James Lyons, Dylan Lyons, Marvin Aylor, and Corey Phillips; numerous great grandchildren; brothers; Bobby Brown and wife Margaret, Dean Brown and wife Catherine; other; her special K9 companion, Little Girl; her special friends Teresa Ingram and Betsy Lockridge, and her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin, her son Woody Lyons, her daughter Helen Repass, her granddaughter Heather Foreaker, and her sister Inez Gasque.
A funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday December 4, 2014 at Woodland Union Church with Pastor Scott Reese officiating. Interment will be in Andrew Chapel Cemetery, Vienna, VA on Friday December 5, at 2 p.m.
The family will receive friends after the service at the church.
